  • Estrogen & Progesterone

As women age, they experience a natural decline in estrogen and progesterone levels, particularly during perimenopause and menopause. Statistics indicate that around 75% of women experience symptoms related to hormonal changes, including hot flashes, mood swings, and vaginal dryness. Estrogen and progesterone play crucial roles in regulating various bodily functions, including reproductive health, bone density, and cardiovascular health. To alleviate symptoms associated with hormonal decline, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is often prescribed. HRT typically involves the administration of estrogen, alone or in combination with progesterone (in women with an intact uterus), through oral medications, transdermal patches, or vaginal creams. Benefits of HRT may include relief from hot flashes, improved mood and sleep quality, and reduced risk of osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease. However, it's essential for women to discuss the potential risks and benefits of HRT with their healthcare provider to determine the most suitable treatment approach based on individual needs and medical history.
  • testosterone-for-women

    Testosterone

Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) in women offers various benefits in addressing symptoms associated with testosterone deficiency, such as low libido, fatigue, and reduced muscle mass. While testosterone is primarily considered a male hormone, it also plays essential roles in female health, influencing sexual function, mood regulation, and bone density. Treatment options for TRT in women typically involve low doses of testosterone administered through transdermal patches, creams, or injections. By restoring testosterone levels to within the normal range for women, TRT can improve libido, energy levels, muscle strength, and overall well-being. However, it's essential for women considering TRT to consult with a healthcare provider to assess individual risks and benefits, monitor hormone levels, and tailor treatment plans to meet their specific needs and health goals.
  • Women-Sexual-Performance

    Sexual Performance

Treatment for low libido in women involves various approaches to address underlying causes and enhance sexual desire. PT-141, a melanocortin receptor agonist, shows promise in increasing sexual desire by acting on the central nervous system. Oxytocin may enhance arousal and bonding. Tadalafil, an ED medication for men, is explored off-label to improve women's sexual function by increasing genital blood flow. Arousal creams with menthol or L-arginine enhance sensitivity and blood flow. Bupropion, an antidepressant, can increase sexual desire due to its dopaminergic effects. Vasodilators improve genital blood flow and arousal. Women with low libido should consult a healthcare provider for personalized treatment.
  • womens-hair-loss

    Hair Loss Prevention

Treatment options for women's hair loss include non-surgical approaches to address underlying causes and promote regrowth. Alongside ensuring adequate intake of essential vitamins and minerals, topical agents like minoxidil stimulate follicles for thicker hair. GHK-Cu, a copper peptide complex, improves hair density and quality by enhancing follicle function. Medications like spironolactone, finasteride, and oral contraceptives may address hormonal imbalances. Surgical options like hair transplant surgery exist but many prefer non-surgical treatments for their effectiveness and minimal invasiveness. Consulting a healthcare professional is crucial for personalized treatment plans based on individual needs and medical history.
  • Cholesterol Management

Managing cholesterol is crucial for cardiovascular health and reducing heart disease and stroke risk. Apolipoprotein B (apoB), a key component of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol or "bad" cholesterol, is an important cardiovascular risk marker. Elevated apoB levels are linked to higher atherosclerosis and cardiovascular event risks. Controlling cholesterol, particularly LDL and apoB, is vital for preventing arterial plaque buildup and reducing complications. Treatment includes lifestyle changes like a heart-healthy diet, regular exercise, maintaining a healthy weight, and quitting smoking. Medications such as statins, PCSK9 inhibitors, or bile acid sequestrants may also be prescribed. Combining lifestyle changes with medical interventions effectively lowers cholesterol and cardiovascular disease risk, emphasizing proactive cholesterol management for heart health.

Hair Loss Prevention for Women

If you are receiving testosterone therapy it is possible to have some thinning of hair throughout the head or just the scalp line. This is often in women who are very suseptible to hair loss or current thinning of hair. This occurs due to an increase in a hormone called DHT which binds to the hair follicle weakening it and causing it to fall out.

There are topical and oral medications that can be used. Minoxidil is a topical solution or foam that is placed on the scalp and rubbed in to stimulate hair growth by causing the hair follicles to stay in the growth cycle.

Finasteride and Dulasteride are DHT blockers that help maintain the strength of the hair follicles.

BP/Cholesterol for women

HRT, specifically testosterone, should not directly increase your blood pressure. It actually has vasodilatory effects which can decrease your blood pressure. Blood pressure usually becomes elevated if your red blood cells increase causing thickening of your blood.

High blood pressure can cause widespread damage to the blood vessels of the heart, kidneys, liver, brain, eyes and throughout your extremities. It increases your risk of heart attack and stroke. It can also cause heart failure.

Often high blood pressure is a “silent killer” meaning there can be no symptoms.
Common symptoms can be headaches, chest pressure, dizziness, fatigue
