Men and women share similar hormones although some are produced from different organs and they provide different functions within the body. The main hormones focused on in hormone optimization are your thyroid hormones, testosterone and estradiol (estrogen). Thyroid hormones come from the thyroid gland in your neck and are involved in your general metabolism as well as growth activity in the body such as hair, skin and nails.
Testosterone and estradiol come from a man’s testicles and women’s ovaries. Both are sex hormones with many responsibilities some of note are: fertility, sexual activity, metabolic activity, mental function.
